1. What’s the difference between Micro-blading, Ombre Powder Brows, Combination Brows and Classic Cosmetic Tattooing?
Micro-blading: involves your technician making small surface incisions in your skin with a hand tool. These incisions are designed to look like individual hairs in your eyebrows. The ink is then applied into these hair stroke incisions.
Ombre Powder Brows: This is the most popular treatment and gives a natural, subtle shading of the brow- great for filling in gaps! There are no harsh lines and your technician can even put in pixilated dots of ink that mimic the look of brow powder.
Combination Brows: This is a combo of micro-blading and ombre powder brows.
Classic Cosmetic Tattoo: the first-generation tattooing. Great for people with no brow hair or who want very defined brows with staying power.
2. How long Cosmetic Tattooing last?
Micro-blading: 8-12 months. 2 years maximum
Ombre powder brows: 2-4 years, with a colour boost every 12 months
Combination brows: 2-4 years with a colour boost every 12 months
Classic cosmetic tattoo: dependent on your skin and how it reacts with the ink. Up to 2 years. It will then start to fade, and in some cases oxidize (change to a greenish colour).
** We do not use any inks that oxidize, they simply fade out with time.
** Every person’s skin is different and therefore ink-fading times vary.
3. What’s involved?
You’ll start with a consultation with Gemma who will talk you through the ins and outs of Cosmetic Tattooing. Together you can decide what treatment is going to be the best to help you achieve the look you are after. At this time Gemma will organize your prescription numbing cream. You will then book in your upcoming appointment. After most services you come back for a touch up appointment around 4-6 weeks.
4. Is there much downtime?
Not at all, it is minimal, about 7 days. You will be fully healed in 4 weeks. You can expect some light scabbing and flaking. You will also have a degree of redness and swelling for the first 48 hours.
5. Does it hurt?
No, cosmetic tattooing is very tolerable. We apply 2 layers of numbing cream, one of which contains epinephrine which means you will feel nothing.
